Green energy storage is a necessity if we want to use RES efficiently. Fortunately, our awareness of this is increasing, which also translates into changes in terms of programmes dedicated to supporting the financing of the green transition. However, it turns out that regulatory development is needed.
A beneficial change would be, for example, a modification of the definition of a hybrid installation in the Renewable Energy Sources Act. Consideration should be given to dropping the requirement to build at least two different RES sources.
Undoubtedly, support schemes for financing energy storage should be developed. From a technological point of view, there are currently virtually no obstacles to effectively combining a RES installation with an energy storage facility.
At the same time, this is the only way to avoid wasting clean power and overloading the electricity grid, which in Poland simply cannot keep up with the rate of RES growth.
