The efficient use of green energy requires an adequate transmission infrastructure. Especially in the context of the construction of offshore wind farms. Here, a new transmission line to connect the north with the south of Poland will be important.
The development plan pending approval by the President of the Energy Regulatory Office for meeting current and future electricity demand for 2025-2034 envisages the construction of an HVDC line to connect Pomerania with Silesia and Małopolska. The primary purpose of this investment is to facilitate the transmission of surplus energy to industrial regions.
The HVDC line is expected to be more efficient and thus generate savings.
Its construction is closely linked to the planned development of offshore wind farms, which are expected to take over the burden of supplying the country with energy in the coming years.
Of course, this is a process that will be spread over many years, but it is necessary to start preparing for it now. The geography of the Polish energy sector will simply change.
