The construction of offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea could generate up to 100 000 new jobs. Those employed in this sector can count on really high salaries.
According to Bankier.pl, the investment phase of offshore wind farms alone is associated with a demand for 30 thousand employees. Another 70 000 are likely to find employment in the sector as the new intentions are realised.
Wages are also an important consideration. Offshore is a complex technology, requiring specialised knowledge and skills – this in turn means that specialists in the trades necessary for the construction and operation of an offshore wind farm have a relatively large scope for negotiating rates. According to estimates, earnings of up to PLN 50,000 per month are even realistic.
However, finding people with the necessary competences for the offshore industry may prove to be a challenge. It is true that first faculties aiming to educate offshore wind farm specialists are already being created at Polish universities, but the scale of the educational offer still does not correspond to the great needs.
