A heat pump is to be built in Rzeszow to supply heat to the city’s residents. It seems that large-scale pumps are gaining favor with local authorities looking for modern solutions to secure ongoing access to energy.
According to the Polish Press Agency, the power of the said heat pump is expected to be 14 MWt, and it will be powered by treated wastewater. The value of the investment was estimated at 76 million zlotys. It is assumed that the pump should start operating in 2027.
This is undoubtedly a very interesting project. Admittedly, large-scale heat pumps are still a rarity in Poland, but the example of Rzeszow – and earlier Wroclaw – shows that they can be an interesting alternative to existing traditional solutions.
Given the rising cost of energy, local governments should intensively search for alternatives, allowing them to carry out public tasks more cheaply and in an environmentally friendly way.
