March saw a record number of applications for subsidies under the Clean Air Program. Unfortunately, this is still not enough to reach the stated goal of replacing fossil fuel stoves.
The creators of “Clean Air” assumed that the program would allow the replacement of 3 million stoves that do not actually meet any environmental standards. So far, 23 percent of them have been replaced.
As GLOBENERGIA’s editorial staff calculates, 8,000 applications would have to be received weekly for full replacement to become a reality, the program indicated. In contrast, the latest record was 6,649 applications per week.
There are at least several reasons for this state of affairs. Certainly, promotional and educational activities are constantly failing. Owners of fossil fuels sometimes do not realize how harmful devices they are dealing with and do not see how to obtain funds for its replacement.
