A wind turbine factory will be built in Gdansk. The investment, of about PLN 300 million, will be subsidized by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
The project in question is the Baltic Tower, being built on the site of the Gdansk Shipyard. The factory is to produce towers for turbines with a capacity of more than 15 MW. The planned capacity should allow the production of more than 150 towers per year.
The heart of the factory will be a production hall occupying an area of 6.2 hectares, where it will be possible to manufacture segments weighing up to 500 tons, up to 50 meters long and up to 10 meters in diameter.
According to the approved schedule, construction is expected to be completed by the end of May 2025. The turbine factory should employ around 500 people, which will certainly make it an extremely important job site for the entire region.
