Poland wants to dynamically develop wind energy

Wind energy development is an undeniable necessity. It is not only about environmental protection. Investment in wind farms is also a great opportunity for entrepreneurs – both those who want to secure their companies’ supply of cheap and environmentally friendly energy, and those interested in taking on new business challenges.

Offshore wind a pillar of transformation

At the end of March there was an interesting meeting between Minister of Climate and Environment Paulina Hennig-Kloska and Ambassador of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Anna Clunes. During it, a number of important issues concerning renewable energy were raised, including its development in Poland and the use of British experience in this regard. The minister made it clear that wind energy – offshore and onshore – is set to become one of the pillars of Poland’s energy transition. Although, considering the direction of wind energy development in Poland so far, offshore wind energy comes to the forefront. By 2040, offshore wind farms are expected to install 18 GW of capacity, while so far a total of 21 permits have been issued for the construction or use of the necessary components.

Wind farms – what is their installed capacity?

According to available research, the installed capacity of wind energy in Poland has already exceeded 9 GW. This means that in a short period of time – since 2015 – it was possible to almost double the volume of this capacity. According to estimates, the capacity of onshore wind farms is expected to reach about 14G by 2030, and 20GW within the next decade. Given the level of investor interest in building wind farms, these estimates are as likely as possible. What’s more – especially if there were a liberalization of regulations applied to the construction of wind farms – it is even possible to exceed the indicated assumptions.
The construction of a wind power plant is not only an interesting project from an environmental or energy transition perspective, but also from a typically business point of view. A wind farm is simply a good way to make money or secure a supply of cheap energy for your business. At the same time, success here largely depends on a professional approach to the preparation of the investment.
