Ember’s analysis shows that Poland has a good chance of becoming an energy hub for power generated by wind farms in the Baltic Sea, especially from the Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania region. This, however, requires considerable investment.

In fact, all Baltic states are dynamically developing their own offshore projects. According to Polish assumptions, wind farms in the Baltic waters belonging to Poland are expected to generate 18 GW of power by 2040.

The power produced in the Baltic Sea could be successfully transmitted to various Central and Eastern European countries, especially Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

However, the implementation of this project requires sizable investments in the transmission network, which, unfortunately, we have had problems with in Poland for many years.

In fact, the state of the power grid is already a fundamental barrier to the development of RES, especially more extensive projects, such as wind or photovoltaic farms.
