Environmental decision for MFW Bałtyk I

ZielonaGospodarka.pl reports that the Regional Director of Environmental Protection in Gdansk has initiated administrative proceedings on the decision on environmental conditions for the project “Connection infrastructure of offshore wind farm OWF Bałtyk I”.

The offshore wind farm Bałtyk I is a company established by the Polenergia Group and the Norwegian company Equinor to build wind farms in the Baltic Sea. The project it is implementing has already received a localization permit in 2019. The farm – expected to produce more than 1.5 GW of power – will be built at the level of Leba, 81 km from the coast, in waters 25-35 m deep. This is the third project jointly developed by Polenergia and Equinor.

The ongoing environmental proceedings were initiated under an application filed by the investor on January 29. Necessary agreements are currently underway, including with the Director of the Maritime Office in Gdynia, the State Border Sanitary Inspector and the Commander of the Military Preventive Medicine Center.
