First service company for Polish offshore wind

It is well known that offshore wind farms are such complex installations that their operation requires a truly extensive infrastructure and specialized knowledge and skills. Therefore, the construction of Polish offshore wind will undoubtedly entail development in many other areas of the economy. Besides, modern companies dedicated to the operation of wind farms in the Baltic are already emerging. One example is the Baltic Offshore Service Solution company. What will it deal with?

Offshore wind – a dedicated service company

Energa Wytwarzanie – that is, one of the ORLEN Group companies – together with Northland Power have established the Baltic Offshore Service Solution company. This will be the first company in Poland dedicated to the comprehensive management of offshore wind farms. Baltic Offshore Service Solution’s specialty will be servicing offshore wind farms, especially in the areas related to operational, contractual, commercial and technical aspects of their operation.
The entities that established the company discussed here have considerable experience in the renewable energy sector, where they have been operating for many years. Suffice it to mention that Energa Wytwarzanie manages – the largest in Poland – the Wloclawek Hydroelectric Power Plant, as well as as as many as 44 small wind power plants. Northland Power, on the other hand, has even impressive experience in the offshore wind market. In total, the company has a stake in 3.4 GW of generation sources, and the wind farms it manages, located in many different countries around the world, produce more than 10000 GWh annually.

How will offshore wind affect the economy?

In any case, there is no doubt that the development of wind energy – onshore and offshore – is a huge opportunity not only for the Polish energy system, but for the entire economy in general. It is not only about new jobs, but also, or perhaps even primarily, about its significant modernization and the emergence of completely new development opportunities. The emergence of new professions and technologically and organizationally advanced enterprises are just some of the examples that could be multiplied.
