Wind farms are playing an increasingly important role in Poland’s energy system. The data show a truly significant increase in the share of power produced by the farms in the overall balance of the Polish energy sector.
As wnp.pl reports, Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne S.A. Energetyczny reported volumes of electricity production in the first four months of the ongoing year. In general, it can be assumed that the importance of coal is decreasing, while that of wind farms is increasing.
According to the data, wind farms are generating as much as 44.25 percent more power – compared to April 2023/April 2024.
Overall, renewable sources – with the exception of wind and hydroelectric power plants – were responsible for generating 1.7 TWh of energy, up from 1.21 TWh a year earlier.
Thus, it is clear that RES are growing rapidly and playing an increasingly important role in the Polish energy system. Invariably, however, the challenge – and a very big one – remains the efficient use of this capacity.
